That's the best way to say it about the USB 2 to RJ45 Fast Ethernet Adapter from Cable Matters.
You may have arrived at this page by googling ways to utilise the USB port on either your Nexus Player or your Mi Box to connect to a wired network.
After encountering stuttering when playing very high bitrate videos streaming over WiFi locally from my NAS I looked at finding a solution to connect both my Google Nexus Player and Xiaomi Mi Box to my wired network.
Both players have a USB port available, the Nexus has a micro-USB 2.0 and the Mi Box a standard USB 2.0.
An initial web search showed that theoretically you could hook up a USB 2 to RJ45 adapter to do that job, but frustratingly many of the cheap adapters available on sites like eBay and AliExpress although working for their intended purposes on other devices just would not allow the Nexus or the Mi Box to recognised a wired network when plugged in.
After trial and error with a few cheapy adapters I stumbled upon the Cable Matters product and gave it a try.
Simplicity at its best - again, it just works. Plug it directly into the Mi Box and connect to your wired network and it instantly recognises the connection. Same with the Nexus Player except that you need a Micro-USB to USB converter to hook it up.
Posting here in case this helps anyone else trying to do the same thing before you try too many of the non compatible adapters!
Brilliant, saved me so much headache. Just wanted to let you know this still works.
