I totally forgot this feature as I am too used to using my updated smartphone daily. However I do keep a backup 'burn' phone for dev and automation tasks (an ancient Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 5.0.1)
Due to a lack of practice with the UI I ran into trouble when removing one google account to add another in its place. When I finally figured it out it had stumped me for long enough to annoy me into writing this down so others don't have to waste time in doing the same thing as I'm sure there are still a few of these phones out there with this configuration.
In order to remove a google user account from this, or a similar you will need to:
- Go to device settings
- Select the "Accounts" tab (Third one along the top).
- Under the 'My Accounts' heading click on the "Google" account type.
- Select the account you want to remove
- At this point you will need stop any syncing activity if there is any.
- Heres the bit I forgot due to lack of practice ...
- Press the SOFT KEY (circled in red in image) to get the popup menu options
- Now you can select "Remove account"
Easy enough when written down, but if you are like me and are more used to the latest smartphone and UI updates then its highly likely this will have slipped your mind too! Hope this helps some frustrated internet users.
